‘The Quiet Valley’ is a painting inspired by the work of Georges Michel and in particular a painting called ‘Un torrent’. This painting pays tribute to the late French landscape painter Georges Michel, I love his expressive darker paintings and dramatic atmospheres he created.
My painting reimagines his work, there is no running water through my valley I have painted, I wanted it to be empty and silent beneath the light shining through the clouds. My painting is about natures stillness and capturing the beauty of the relationship between light and land.
This is my ode and my thank you to Georges Michel.
