‘Light Remains’, Oil on Canvas, 10” x 12”
This original oil painting is one of my last small studio pieces of 2025. This original piece was inspired by the word ENDURANCE where the ‘Light Remains’ and never tries to escape but will always endure. A single point of light persists against the blackened heavens. The light does not conquer the darkness - it simply refuses to be taken. The light and the dark are one of the same, in balance, in harmony, in silence they hold the same power.
I painted the darkened skies above a silent golden field with a small white church on the horizon line, fragile in scale, yet unyielding in presence. I wanted to add a tiny church to this piece because it adds a slight tension of faith, but also could it be a sanctuary of somewhere to run to as the darkness rolls over the sky.
This original oil painting may be small in scale, but it has an immense presence. When the light comes through the window and shines on the clouds it really is something special.
