‘Almost Angels’, this original oil painting was created in May 2022 and has been kept within my personal collection within the last three years, but I am now ready to let this piece live with its new person.
This painting was inspired by the title ‘Almost Angels’.
The beam of light signifies the power of light being cast down from the angels. The angels are showing clarity being shot through the overwhelming darkness, representing a path of hope even though the darkness is so uncertain and feels like its pulling you down towards the waters.
This original oil painting is an extension of my inner world which is why it is so personal to me. The dark skies and ocean reflect the complexity of emotions that we all go through as human beings. The light is pure resilience and knowing that there will be challenging times, but the light will always guide you.
As a creator I poured myself into this work and this is why I think I had to keep hold of it for a couple of years as in a way I was saying goodbye to it.
This painting is a true reflection of myself as an artist and shows my love for painting dark skies.
I also chose to varnish this painting with a gloss varnish as it really makes the dark clouds look even more ominous!
