‘Black Chapel’ is a painting where I wanted to create a storm with haunting beauty. I loved creating the small tornado which is twisting towards the Black Chapel, yet the chapel just stands beneath the chaos of the storm with a quiet resilience. This painting I have created is all about natures force, sanctuary and hope. I painted some light in the top left hand corner of the painting but I kept the right-hand side darker using paynes grey, burnt sienna and a tiny bit of black.

Original Landscape Oil Painting on canvas 'Edge of Silence ‘, 12" x 16".
This original oil painting was inspired by the majestic cumulus clouds and their formations. Growing up I have always been fascinated by clouds and the different forms they can take. I love how cumulus clouds always look so imposing and strong in the sky especially when they are captured over a large area of countryside.
The process for this particular painting was quite long as firstly I wanted to build up the undertones of the painting and then I let it cure for a couple of days before adding the next layer. I then started on building up the cumulus clouds over days at a time, keeping the edges of the clouds quite sharp and then blending the lower parts of the clouds.
Towering in the sky are the white cumulus clouds billowing over the open field which then draws your eyes to the tiny solitary farm building in the distance. It’s small scale only amplifies the contrast between the vast sky and the quiet shelter below - proof that even a small oil painting can carry a powerful presence.
Though this painting is modest in size 12” x 16”, this painting commands attention. I love this painting, and I can’t wait for it to find its forever home!

‘The Quiet Valley’ is a painting inspired by the work of Georges Michel and in particular a painting called ‘Un torrent’. This painting pays tribute to the late French landscape painter Georges Michel, I love his expressive darker paintings and dramatic atmospheres he created.
My painting reimagines his work, there is no running water through my valley I have painted, I wanted it to be empty and silent beneath the light shining through the clouds. My painting is about natures stillness and capturing the beauty of the relationship between light and land.

‘Lost Secrets’ The Chapel on the Hill, this original oil painting was inspired by the feeling of sanctuary amongst a powerful stormy environment. The mini chapel being a place where you can run to and tell all your secrets or just seek pure isolation.
I wanted to create a dramatic stormy sky with turbulent clouds above the moody dark land below that mirrors the intensity of the clouds above. I created only a subtle play of light coming in from the left-hand corner which gently plays with the land below.
The atmosphere of this painting even feels a little heavy, with slight tension like it’s the calm before the storm. Although it also brings a sense of stillness, the tiny chapel seems as if it’s standing its ground before the heavens open and the storm lashes it rain onto the landscape below.
I adored creating this painting, I loved it and I can’t wait for it to find it new home.

This painting was also about creating contrast between the land and sky which I think helps with creating that sense of quiet anticipation.

This painting was heavily inspired by my passion for the countryside.
The overall mood I wanted to portray with this painting is one of beautiful natural Isolation. I have purposely painted some heavy dark clouds coming in from the right that almost looks as though they are about to devour the faint light I have painted coming in from the left top corner.
One of my passions is to create drama with darkness and light, creating a Yin and Yang essence within my art. There is a slight gloom over the right side of the landscape and hills where the storm is approaching. There is some light also just gently dancing on top of the left-hand side of the hills. I believe my love for darkness and light is shown in this painting and I hope I have created a sacred space that someone will fall in love with.
I also chose to varnish this painting with a gloss varnish as it really makes the dark clouds look even more ominous!

This painting was inspired by my love of contrast between light and dark.
This oil painting is bathed in burnt sienna tones and accentuates the dramatic atmosphere I wanted to create with this piece of art. I knew from the beginning of the process of starting the painting that I wanted to have the light just gently dancing on top of the field, only giving a slight glow on the right-hand side.
When painting the clouds I actually started off very dark with loose motions when creating the shapes, after a week I then decided to go over the clouds with a wash of a burnt sienna mix and then added in some light cloud forms.
With this painting I want to immerse the viewer into the dramatic energy of this painting.
I absolutely love this painting and the whole process of creating it! It really will be a statement piece in its new home.

‘Tomorrow’s Goodbye’ was inspired by many thoughts and ideas about patience and the passage of time. In this painting the storm clouds dominate the upper portion of the canvas panel suggesting that soon there could be impending heavy rain.
The landscape as a whole is a piece where I want to portray moments of stillness that will then give way to change. This is my metaphor to show that sometimes patience is required as events will unfold in their own time.

‘A Guiding Light’ was inspired by Exmoor National Park in South West England near to where I am lucky enough to visit regularly for amazing walks on the hills. This paintings story is about the light breaking through after the storm and guiding you through the darkness of the hills.

This original oil painting is called 'Buried Thoughts'.
This painting on the surface is a beautiful yellow rapeseed field with a dark storm hovering above it. The deeper meaning behind why I wanted to paint this piece is about mental health. As soon as you see a bright yellow field, you see happiness, bright joy and fun…it shoots to the surface to try and make your eyes avoid the darkness above.
The darkness is looming but the light from the left of the clouds is hope, that better times are coming. The darkness may feel so heavy at times but there will always be the light trying to guide you even when it seems like there is no escape.
Remembering that you are never truly alone, just like the farm building in the distance watching over the field.
